How we use cookies

VG Live uses cookies and similar storage so the site works, and so you can choose measurement. UK PECR lets strictly necessary cookies run without a separate opt-in. Analytics and marketing cookies stay off until you accept them.

Strictly necessary

Session and CSRF cookies from the Discord sign-in (Auth.js / next-auth) so we know who you are after you return from Discord.

Short-lived OAuth state cookies when an admin connects Twitch for live and sub counts.

A first-party cookie named vg_pecr stores your cookie choice for 6 months, so a refusal is remembered and we do not ask on every page. The same choice is kept in local storage under that name.

These are required for login, security, and remembering your choice. If you block the sign-in cookies, account features will fail.

Measurement

Google Tag Manager (container GTM-KDHNVGHD) loads on each page. Before you choose, it is told that analytics storage and ad storage are denied. If you accept analytics, measurement tags may set cookies or read page and device data. Google processes that data under its own terms.

Marketing cookies stay off unless you accept them. If you do, advertising tags published in the same container may set cookies.

Embedded Twitch or YouTube players are hosted by those companies and may set their own cookies when you press play. That is their processing, covered by their policies.

How to control cookies

On your first visit a bar offers Reject, Accept, and Choose. Reject and Accept are one click and do the same amount of work. Choose lets you turn analytics and marketing on or off. Necessary cookies stay on.

Cookie choices in the footer opens that bar again so you can withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops new analytics and ad storage. Cookies already set by a tag can be cleared in your browser.

The choice lasts 6 months, then we ask again. Blocking googletagmanager.com also stops the container. You can browse public pages without signing in.
